Unknown Owner's 1967 MG MGB MkI

This Mk1 is all original including engine, gear box, rear axle, leather seats, and floor panels. I rescued it after being off the road for 24 years. Decades ago it suffered a poor paint re-spray. I started to bring it back to life by doing the brakes, adjusting the valves, and then replacing the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines and all of the fluids. Original distributor was rebuilt by Advanced Distributors. Newer Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. It is now running great, but needs body work, repaint, interior and top (original stow away folding top frame included). This is my fourth MGB in 34 years, and runs better than any that I have owned. I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere.

Could you please provide a little more detail on the bodywork required? Does the car need full floor pan, rocker, etc replacement? Any accident damage? Thanks!

Floors are original with surface rust on top, but still solid. Uncertain on rockers. There was poorly fixed accident damage to the passenger rear corner. Aluminum hood and front grill need to be replaced (I have a straight used aluminum hood). Front driver fender has a very slight kink (I have a used front fender from the same year).

Tom it sounds like you've been all over this car mechanically. What evidence, if any is there of rust in the sill structure? Have you been over the car looking for bondo with a magnet?

Have not taken a magnet to it. Will do so this weekend and post.

I think I drove by the park the other day when you were taking the pictures. I should have stopped to chat. I can use all the exposure to British cars I can get. I'm new to these tiny little things. My previous experience is mostly with mid-'50s to late 60's GM, mostly Chevy.

Yes Greg...small world. British cars are so much fun to drive.
