1992 mini cooper starting problem

SO many things could be wrong ! Start by checking and cleaning ALL of the wire connections and the key switch. Starter wire nut, solenoid connections, battery terminals, hot lead to coil plus side and such. If sound, try jumping the solenoid to see if it engages. If it engages the started correctly, run a hot lead from the plus battery to the plus coil and jump the solenoid once again, the engine ought to try to fire. If it doesn't, check the inside of the distributor.
Again, this sort of thing is pretty much impossible to diagnose from a distance, you will need to go through every system to find what's at fault. Check on-line for starting procedure, or trouble shooting ignition and/or electrical systems. The Mini is basic and most everything that applies to any older car will apply to a Mini.
