1954 MG TF 1500

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

VIN: HDA462599

Car was purchased in 1956 from the original owner. It has remained in the same family since. In the mid 1970’s the car was fitted with a Volvo B18 engine and transmission from a 1967 Volvo P1800, and an MGA rear axle. Minor modifications inside the engine compartment were required. The car was originally black with red upholstery and trim; it was overpainted once, dark green.

The car is partially dismantled. Body panels, except the seat tub, have been removed. See attached photographs for current condition, and condition prior to dismantling. Many photographs were taken during the dismantling, showing each step. Most parts are labelled, on the car or as stored. Many new parts have been purchased; see attached list. Copies of invoices are available on request.

The car has always been kept inside. Minor surface rust on the chassis. There are a few small dents and scrapes on the body parts. Chrome is generally good, oxidation but no pitting. No wood rot. Tonneau cover, top must be replaced. Side screens are original. Wire wheels are original. Radiator has been shop cleaned and gas tank cleaned and re-coated. Volvo SU carburetors have been re-built.

Original owner’s handbook, a shop manual reprint, numerous articles on TF issues, and restoration books are included.

Car is located in Oakland, California. Buyer is responsible for removing vehicle and all related parts and supplies at buyer’s cost, withing sixty days of purchase.

Price: $4,000.00. Cash only. No cashier’s checks, money orders, personal checks, etc.

Seeking Reconstruction HelpLooking for a shop in the San Francisco Bay Area to take over my project. I have a 1954 MG TF. It has a 1967 Volvo B18 engine with transmission from a Volvo P1800, plus MGA rear axle. The car is mostly dismantled. This is a project I can't complete, and must find a shop to finish the job and put it back together again. Suggestions welcomed and appreciated.
