In a few weeks I'll be picking up a 1972 (MK3) blue GT6 from the soon-to-be-PO. My garage is (almost) cleaned out, and hopefully by then, the electric will be upgraded in there too, including new lights.
Meanwhile I'm planning, planning, planning.
The PO claims the car hasn't run since 1995, though it has been stored indoors since then. There's LOTS of rust - both floorboards are gone, there are holes in the rear wings, the shock mounts, the boot, the windscreen frame, and the front spoiler quarter panels. Other than that, it's "great."
Seriously, I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Got most of the electric installed in my garage this weekend. Previously, there was only one sad 60-watt bulb and two outlets, both already taken by the garage door openers!
Now, I have two banks of overhead LEDs (only in the "Triumph bay", not in the other one, mind you), and what I think is 100-amp service to the garage. There's a new circuit breaker box with 5 independent 20-amp circuits (not all installed yet.)
Only a week to go until I actually HAVE the car!

It's done! I have a garage, complete with "power, paint and lights". The paint's kinda sucky, but that's not the important part.
Now, I need a "Triumph parking only" sign and I'll be all set for this weekend - only four more days until I pick up the GT6!

Get the Triumph Parts Center sign, OH, it might be a Service Center one. I think VB sales them.Wayne

After all the preparation, today was the day! I flew from NY to VA, got a uHaul and picked up my car! It "only" took 9 hours to drive back to NY and pushed into my garage.
NOW, the fun can start!

Nice David! Now the fun begins. Lots of pictures of the car as it sits right now, inside and out, will be valuable for the upcoming restoration. I have looked at mine too many times to count. Even for seemingly minor items like bolt orientation will save hours on reassembly. I'm looking forward to your upcoming journal entries.

That's my plan - lots of pictures, even videos, before starting anything.I've got a bad memory when it comes to little fiddly details like what went where so the pictures will definitely help.

Yahoo David! Looks good, it looks to have some good bones and a sun roof too 
. Is the right side damage limited to the door or include the sill too? Depending on how bad the rust is it may be academic (like in my case). Enjoy, you will have lots of fun.

The damage to the right door is beyond my interest to repair so I have another door on order (cheap!). The right sill is rusted through. Not sure about the bones though! In places it looks like the paint is holding in the rust.

My car is an aqua-blue color that I liked when I first saw it.
But when I opened the driver's side door I saw that it was dark purple-ish-blue inside. Looking a little more closely it was obvious that the car had been repainted at some point. Here's how I could tell: https://youtu.be/P74u-qDIUhA
The commission plate lists the color as 96 and the trim 27. According to http://www.triumphexp.com/article/bmc-paint.html, 96 is "Imperial Blue" -- that dark purple-ish blue - and trim 27 is "Shadow Blue" - which the interior still is.
When all is said and done I think I'll go back to the original color for the exterior but maybe black for the interior. It's a loooooong way off though.

Original "Imperial blue" is visible where they didn't paint where the license plate was...

I sat in my "new" car for the first time tonight. Of course, my feet touched the ground (think Fred Flintstones) but other than that it was fine!
