I'm hoping someone on this forum might be able to help. I'm trying to find out the dimensions on the half shaft/axle on classic minis. The distance from wheel mounting flange to gearbox output flange would probably be the best, but length of the axle would work too.

I'm building a Coventry Climax powered special and am designing up an IRS set up for it using a Spitfire differential with Mini hubs (already have wheels with a 4 on 4" bolt pattern). The idea is to use either the long or short axles from a Mini and convert the inner end to the Cooper type Hardy Spicer set up and change the companion flange to the Spitfire one. All of this providing the axles will work. If all else fails i can have some custom axles made up.

If the mini axle works, does anyone have any used ones for sale?

Cheers,
Rod
