I am preparing my 1973 Leyland Australia Mini Window Van for the ALCAN 5000. constructive questions & comments are welcome.
Interested parties can view the preparation & event on the FB page 'ROO to run the ALCAN 5000'.
A fair bit of effort & resources is going into the prep for this 9-day, 4,600 mile event with 500 miles of TSD stages. The rally starts in Kirkland, Washington (Seattle area), runs north through British Columbia, the Yukon, Alaska ending in Fairbanks on August 28th.
The front end has been refreshed, including sub frame, suspension components (many new), and a fresh power unit is being prepared. The stock 1098 is being converted into an 1185cc engine with Russell Engineering head work, cam/lifters, pistons/pins/rings, long runner intake for HIF44, Calver ST 1.4:1 steel rockers, Paul Ivey race valves, Cooper S valve springs...
Look if you like and please comment is you notice anything amiss!
