The engine and transmission in my 1967 Austin Cooper S are painted red. The spare engine and transmission I got with the car are also painted red. They don't appear to have been repainted, but everything I have read says that they should be Green. What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Jim

I think I am getting to the bottom of this. Both engines have been rebuilt, as evidenced by 0.040 pistons in both engines.
The rebuilds were probably by the same shop, and I'm guessing their habit was to paint all their rebuilt engines red.
The green was probably removed from the engines in the "tank", and the transmissions were either stripped or blasted.
At least thats my theory for now.
