Rover also did a modified from 1988 to 1990. With E.R.A. (English Racing Automobiles) they crammed in a 1275 turbocharged A+ drivetrain from the MG Metro turbo. The attached picture shows the setup of one of the Japanese export market cars. In lieu of a sunroof, they got air conditioning and all the associated plumbing, compressor and rad. Personnally, I took it all out.
The liitle rad in the front is an auxillary cooling rad thats in series with the main rad. Also has oil cooler. The turbo is tucked in behind and a bit of fire wall surgery was required. There is no intercooler.
For the day, it was pretty impressive at 94 horsepower and top speed of 112 mph. It is the fastest production Mini (not MINI- I'm sure the new Cooper S, let alone a JPW would blow the crap out of it).
